Master Bedroom Reveal with Tarkett-Tandus Centiva

This post is sponsored by Tarkett NA; however, all thoughts and opinions are my own.

It’s amazing to me how much my priorities have changed with each and every house we move into – four or five houses ago, I always set out to unpack and settle our master bedroom first so that Justin and I would have a “retreat” in our home. Well, two babies later and our bedroom is, without a doubt, the lowest priority space in our home. Nurseries, big boy rooms, playrooms and bathrooms now all take precedent over our adult hideaway. But after our anniversary trip, I came home inspired to create a vibe in our bedroom that reminded me of our favorite hotel in the world – the Four Seasons Anguilla. The decor and architecture combine a modern vibe of sleek whites and sharp angles with natural elements like light, soft wood tones and woven textures.
Here’s what our room liked like when we moved in….

And what it looks like now, with a fresh coat of paint (Ice Cubed Silver by Benjamin Moore on the walls and Dove White on the ceiling, trim, shutters and doors) and a little decor upgrade:

This space had a few unique challenges as a result of it’s unusual shape, size and door placements. Quite honestly, placing the furniture was tough and we ended up snagging a new dresser that was much shorter than the one we owned and upgrading our end tables to two petite dressers to compensate.
And then there was the issue of rugs.
We didn’t own a rug that would fit the shape of the hardwood area and couldn’t find one that was long enough but not too wide. I had somewhat given up when Tarkett asked me if I wanted to give their Tandus Centiva custom rug line Design Shop and Configurator a try. Once I realized I could design a rug online in 5 steps, using custom measurements to fit our space, down to the color of the border thread, I hopped on that ASAP.

We chose a gorgeous, gunmetal grey rug with a woven texture that Justin says reminds him of a big, chunky sweater. I love how soft it is underfoot (and under crawling babies!) and how much it visually anchors the space. As a bonus, the carpet is made of commercial grade carpeting which is perfect for our high-traffic bedroom (anyone else have a family bedroom? We couldn’t keep our kids out of here if we wanted to!) and all rugs ordered via the Design Shop arrive within 15 days.

I scored the dark grey antelope pillow covers and the khaki and white french knot lumbar pillows at a local design boutique’s tent sale last weekend and love them so much! The dark grey throw pillows tie in our new rug and the knotted lumbars add a touch of sophistication to the natural rattan chair (another crazy steal, linked at the end of this post!)

As a treat for ya’ll, Tandus Centiva is offering 25% off all area rugs designed via the Design Center Configuration with the code SPRINGBLOGGER! If you’ve been hunting for a custom area rug to warm up a space or need a floor covering in a tricky size, I cannot recommend the Design Center enough – there is a shade available that reminds me of a classic jute but will be much softer underfoot, perfect for a playroom or family room.

Believe it or not, we have a little renovation work to do in this space (hello, new master bath!) so keep an eye on our Master for our next round of demolition!
