BabyMoon: Oia Sunset

Oia, Santorini has been named the home of the most beautiful sunset in the world.
Honestly, Justin and I aren't huge nature people, but when you happen to find yourself on the island that boasts the most beautiful sunset on Earth, you do what you can to catch a glimpse.

Here is my best advice to enjoy the Oia sunset:

Make a reservation at the Castle restaurant.

You'll definately need to make a reservation, or have your hotel do so for you, in order to get a table for sunset, but the food is amazing and the view is to die for. The cruise ship passengers will flock to the best part of the island to see the sunset and will pack the streets, cliff tops, sidewalks and walk ways. Justin couldn't stop pointing out the people who were literally willing to risk their lives to have a front row seat to the sunset experience.

(the early crowd, as the main event approaches, this crowd will triple in size)
So, just trust me on this. Make a rez, drink a bottle of wine and enjoy an amazing meal while the sun is setting.

Every photo in this post is a direct import from my camera. No editing or touch ups in order to exploit Mother Nature's glory.

You'll be pleased to know that the sun gets a round of applause from the crowd every night as it sets!
(Justin thought this was as ridiculous as the death defying sunset picture takers and it makes me giggle every time I think about it!)

So, here's what I know for sure these days:
Truth: Strangers look upon me with pity.
Or shock.

Truth: My stretch marks weren't even kind enough to appear in a symmetrical pattern or in matching places. One hip bears a light pink lightening bolt, the other remains untouched (for now).

Truth: My feet are so swollen that they hurt to bend.
And I can't find my ankles.
And now even my flip flops leave marks on my feet.

Truth: All of my lady lumps rest on top of each other.
Oh yeah, let your imagination run wild with that one.

Truth: I asked my husband if he was ready for the baby to get here and he said, "I'm really excited to see him and for you to get back to normal." I replied, "you mean physically?" and there was a long pause followed by a very unsure sounding "yeeeeeah."

Truth: I want to nest, do a million more projects and vaccume everything, but then I think about how wonderful a nap sounds and decide that I really should leave my mom some projects to do around here while she's visiting for a month. Sorry, mom.

Truth: I only have two items of clothing that really fit anymore.
I wear the rest anyway.

Truth: I can no longer twist enough to make sure that I won't smash into another car trying to pull out of a parking spot at the same time that I am. At this point, I just go for it, hoping a fender bender will inspire my doctor to induce me.

Truth: I wake myself up with my own snoring.
A lot.

Truth: I feel like a science experiement.

Truth: I would commit murder to have a cold Corona Light with a lime.

Truth: I eat whatever I want, whenever I want because the all you can eat buffet is quickly shutting down around my house sized self.

Truth: When this baby comes, I will love him forever, but with a cocktail and turkey sandwich in hand.

I'm going to take the next few days off to enjoy the 4th and the husband's last few days of vacation.

If you want to keep up with the Maine craziness or get any baby news as it happens, make sure you're following along on Insta (@snfreeman)!

See y'all soon!

Bumpdate: 37 Weeks

How Far Along: 37 weeks 1 day

Size of Babe: a watermelon (no kidding, I'm as big as a house. People look at me with pitty)

Gender: twig and berries

Symptoms: swelling, sweaty and sexy. Unfortunately, none of these key symptoms will inspire the doctor to go ahead and get him out. The irony that my baby tried to bust on out pre-term and now won't come out at term is not lost on me.

Loving: lemonade, my window air conditioner, fried shrimp, ice cream, late afternoon naps, fresh flowers, doctor approved sleeping pills

Loathing: the rib pain, the fact that only like two items of clothing still fit, that I have earned three little stretch marks in the last week (Justin counted them for me because I can't see them)

Wedding Rings: I'm even more swollen than usual so absolutely not

Belly Button : still flat

Maternity Clothes: oh yeah

Best Part of the Week: all of my quality time with my vacationing husband has been the best treat.

Worst Part of the Week: there may or may not have been an incident where I was in so much pain I got in the shower in at attempt to soothe my ribs/shower the baby out of me. It didn't work and I had to call Justin into our room (sobbing) to ask him to help me put my undies on because I was in too much pain to bend over and do it myself. It.was.bad.

Can't Wait: to have this baby boy!
