The Best Budget Friendly One Pieces For Mom's of All Body Types
Truth be told, I don’t think I’ve ever received more emails and comments than I did when I posted the swimsuits I wore on our recent anniversary trip. I totally get it, buying a swimsuit is a nightmare. You either order online and cross your fingers or stand in front of a horribly lit mirror in a fitting room, hoping for a not so terrible outcome.
Add in a desire to accommodate a post baby body, a large rack, a need for full bottom coverage and, you know, something you can actually move in, splash pad style, and finding such a suit feels like an impossible task.
By some stroke of luck, this swim season has been kind to your’s truly and I’ve managed to secure four suits that fit the bill for my body type and current needs (read: no cutouts or places for one of my boobs to pop out while I’m pulling the baby from her headfirst dive into the fountain at the splash pad). I’m rounding up each suit with fit notes, my sizes and suggestions for how to make them work perfectly for you.
My body stats: 5’9″, size L/30 in bottoms, size M/L in tops, Bust is DDD
As a bonus, each of these suits comes in under $45 – and two are under $25!

I will never get over how cute this striped one shoulder suit is!

Somehow, the ruffles don’t add bulk to the bust and the lines are strategically placed to narrow the waist. Considering the price point (under $15!) I had zero expectations but this suit is now my all time favorite.

Fit: I’m wearing a Large

The top has cups but no wires, the legs are cut fairly high and the bottom has medium coverage. The single strap is wide and thick so that it doesn’t pull or leave marks, even with a large bust. If you carry your weight in your tummy, you may want to size up as I think the torso might be the tiniest bit short.

The high cut leg is crazy flattering but may take a minute to get used to because it will show the tiniest bit of skin that a classic one piece might not. You can see my exposed tan lines in the top photo for reference!

With thick straps and full coverage bottom, this suit required no adjusting throughout the day – and I wore it on our adventure day, just to really put it through the ringer!
If you have a large bust, I highly recommend this suit, it does not have wires but does have cups and the strap across the back adds bra like support. The tie is just for show and won’t leave you exposed, although my one year old does love to rip it from the grommets given the chance.
Fit: wearing a Large
Runs true to size in my opinion with full coverage and great support. A great, go-to black one piece.

This suit comes in both red and black but I highly recommend the red! It’s the perfect shade and since the suit is so flattering, it’s a win-win. The cups in the top are a little difficult to shape just right around your ladies but they can be removed if needed.
Again, this suit is wire free but the two thick straps provide great support.
Wearing: M (8-10)
Fit: I should have sized up to a Large (12-14) because I do think the torso runs very short on this suit, making it a little tricky to get into the criss cross straps. I made it work but would suggest considering going up a size unless you’re petite.
I also think the bottom might be a bit cheekier than the other suits on this list but not to the point of being uncomfortable or inappropriate. It is very flattering around the midsection and emphasizes the bust without adding to it.

I love the criss cross back on this suit! The stripes are flattering to the midsection thanks to a seam cut across the diagonal and the rear coverage is perfect. Plus there is something about blue and white stripes that is just so classic, you know?

Fit: wearing a 12

I suggest sizing up if between sizes on this one.

Also, be aware that this suit does not have cups or wires and does have thinner straps, so it probably takes the most work of all of the suits to get your chest just right in the top. If you are on the hunt for maximum boob support, I’d skip this one!
